In fact... what if I supported multiple builders? Like, one would actually build the thing and install it to a temp dir, then another would split it up into different outputs.
Though, that might not be a good idea.
I'm also thinking about how to do custom builders, so that I don't need to inline them into the derivation. I can currently do something like, have a buildtime input that contains the script, and then do a /bin/sh builder that calls FUCK_TOOL_ROOT/bin/my-helper, but that's a tad ugly.
It also doesn't answer the question how to get a local file into the store. Something like Nix's "path" type is missing. That'll be a bit of a headache to figure out.

OK, I've read through everyone else's advice as well as your description of the project in a garage. A finished edge down means you have paper at the bottom that you can seal easily with paint. Yes, give it a bit of a gap but unless the patch handles the entire run, you may be meeting up with a panel with no gap. I'd still throw trim on the full run and caulk it to give more protection from water.
I have never been more burnt out as an open source software maintainer than when people started submitting AI written pull requests. This is hell. I’m in hell right now
@danirabbit thanks for all you deligent work and sorry this is happening. I can only imagine how complex and frought reviewing submissions with atypical catastrophic choices hidden in it randomly is. Hope that people respect requests not to submit it or AI collapses sooner rather than later.
